A useful histopathologic classification divides the panniculitides into “septal” and “lobular” (Table 73-2), although several diagnoses exhibit overlapping features.1 This classification is expanded by noting the presence or absence of vasculitis,2 and the composition of the inflammatory infiltrate (Table 73-1).
