Our aim in compiling this atlas is to provide not only a teaching tool for the recognition and management of common (and some less common) pediatric dermatological conditions in Asian skin types, but also to provide a resource of photographs for healthcare professionals in daily practice. Our intended audience includes pediatricians, dermatologists, family practitioners, nurses, and allied health professionals who consult and manage Asian children and adolescents in their daily practice. This atlas is also intended to be a useful learning resource for medical students, trainees, residents, and fellows, especially those with an interest in pediatrics and dermatology.

We have compiled a large and extensive compendium of high-resolution clinical images of pediatric dermatological conditions presenting in Asian races, collected not only from our own pediatric dermatology practice at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Singapore, a cosmopolitan melting-pot of Asian races, but also from our co-authors and contributors from the Southeast and South Asian regions. To enable the atlas to be an everyday working reference, we have provided up-to-date vignettes to aid in the diagnosis, investigations, and treatment of the various pediatric dermatological conditions. A small section on “pearls and practical tips” at the end of each sub-chapter adds important practice points arising from our co-authors’ clinical experience. Some of these points may not be found in other publications. Chapter 16, the last chapter of the atlas, provides practical tips on performing common dermatological procedures in pediatric patients. For readers with online subscriptions to the atlas, on-demand videos of some of these procedures have been provided from our clinical practice, in addition to additional digital photographs which include less classical presentations of pediatric dermatology conditions, and rarer diagnoses. The videos may be obtained by visiting mhprofessional.com/AtlasofPediatricDermatologyinAsianSkin.

We sincerely hope that you will find this atlas as useful as we have while compiling the text and photographs of the book.
