Awareness of these paraneoplastic syndromes can result in earlier diagnosis of internal malignancy. As discussed in this chapter, people with skin of color present later to the healthcare system with internal malignancies and therefore have a poorer prognosis.1 Based on data in the United States, this chapter will cover the epidemiology of malignancy by race and ethnicity, as well as characteristics of paraneoplastic dermatoses.
