These  treatments  are  now  the  most  frequently  performed  cosmetic  procedures  in  the  United  States.What’s  New?Soft  tissue  fillers,  also  delivered  via  facial  injection,  have  become  increasingly  popular  for  midface  augmentation  and  the  treatment  of  facial  wrinkles.New  evidence  supports  the  potential  efficacy  of  topical  products  containing  antioxidants,  peptides,  and  various  growth  factors  in  treating  skin  aging.What’s  Coming?Additional  research  is  needed  to  determine  the  effects  of  multiple  treatment  cycles,  frequency  of  significant  adverse  events,  and  duration  of  the  effects  of  botulinum  neurotoxin  injections.Future  treatment  mechanisms  may  result  from  an  improved  understanding  of  the  mechanisms  underlying  age-related  changes  to  neuroendocrine  pathways,  thyroid  function  regulation,  and  lipid  metabolism.
